DONORS IN ACTION
Not all heroes wear scrubs. Last year, more than 8,000 donors gave generously to help us raise $5.2 million in support of our frontline workers. Here are just a few of our donor heroes.

Armour Insurance Brokers
Armour Insurance Brokers Ltd. stepped forward to support compassionate health care with a generous $500,000 matching gift to the Health Care Heroes campaign.
“We are going through the toughest time in 100 years. The only way our health system can survive is to have enough funds for equipment, education and facilities,” said Sukhdeep Kang, CEO. “Contributing even a small amount will help to enhance the services for all of us. We are thankful that we are fortunate enough to be able to give back to the community.”

Steve Robinson
With a $250,000 matching gift challenge to the community, Steve Robinson, Wealth Advisor with RBC Dominion Securities, rallied support for our front line workers. As a member of Osler Foundation’s Board of Directors, Steve knows it will take the community to battle COVID-19. “Even during the most uncertain times, many of us can still afford to help where it is needed most,” he said. “By making a matching donation, I hope to encourage those that can step up, to do so.”

John Esplen, The Humberview Group
John Esplen is President, CEO and owner of The Humberview Group, a volunteer on Osler Foundation’s Board of Directors and a lifelong resident of Etobicoke, a community hit hard by COVID-19. In addition to generous gifts to the hospital over the past number of years, John made a recent contribution of $100,000 to help support Etobicoke General’s pandemic response.
“Every great community deserves a great hospital. If you live or work in Etobicoke, you’ve only got one hospital and it’s Etobicoke General,” said John.

Sajjad Ebrahim
Inspired by Osler’s frontline staff, Sajjad Ebrahim and his family matched donations up to $100,000 to the Health Care Heroes campaign. The gift was in honour of acquaintance and new Osler President and CEO, Dr. Naveed Mohammad’s “compassion and incredible business acumen”.
“Those of us in a position to give have an obligation to step forward in these times of crisis,” said Sajjad. “What better way than to support the hospitals and the frontline health care workers—the heroes of our nation.”
